The overall role of the Education in Emergencies (EiE) Learning Specialist is to monitor and ensure quality teaching and learning practices within the EiE response in Cox’s Bazar (Emergency Cat 1. S/He will
Provide the implementing partner staff with follow-up mentoring and coaching after they’ve received the Training of Trainers (ToT) from the EiE TA;
Bolster the EiE trainings / ToTs by providing day-to-day technical guidance on the ground, including for TICC, PSS/PFA, LWiE, how to run a TLC, etc;
Monitor and support the partners’ implementation of class visits and peer learning meetings to ensure quality content and approaches.
Provide ongoing capacity building and promotion of peer learning of partner staff through conducting peer learning meetings with 8 Technical Officers every two weeks.
Provide feedback on field level information regarding quality to the rest of the EiE team
Monitoring of teacher wellbeing to overcome the issue of teacher retention and dropout;
Ensure teachers fully understand, and are using, the SCI referral mechanisms to refer their students to relevant services;
Support the roll-out of both the Teachers in Crisis Context package and Literacy Wellbeing in Emergencies package at field-level;
Ensure teachers are complying with the signed Code of Conduct;
Ensure teachers are respecting TLC schedules (age shifts), providing guidance where necessary;

A high level of written and spoken English. Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education/Development Studies or relevant discipline.

Experience of EiE, working in emergency contexts or fragile states especially in capacity building and in strengthening various duty bearers understanding of and response to EiE.
Strong skills on teacher training and coaching.
Ability to identify the quality issues in EiE in the given context and implement field-level solutions. Experience of working with and supporting local partners.
Excellent supportive communication skills with Strong influencing capacity.
The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of SC, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct.
Verbal Chittagonian language skills.
Excellent written and verbal Bangla skills.
